Stripe Issue Settled........Thinks To Do List

Sometimes life gets in the way of a bike project. For instance: my wife & I came down with a case of the flu which left us in a weakened condition. Then there was the situation where our church is getting a new pastor & my wife chairs the "parsonage" committee (meaning we do some of the work getting the parsonage ready for the new tenant). Oh......I guess I need to add that I bought a new Ruger GP100 just out as a 5 shot .44 special........the answer to all serious handgun addict's wish list (that gun & I had to get acquainted).

The stripe issue is settled. A 1/64" stripe is now a permanent part of the bike (clear coated in place). That very narrow size was enough to break up the vanilla flavored look, but not too much. The riveted bracket was a breeze to remove (aluminum rivets).

    Things to do:
    1. Install fender (no sweat), add brake fluid & bleed brakes (my most un-favorite thing)
    2. Solve the bar end issue so that they will stay in place for bar end mirror mounting (sounds like a job for Marine Tex).
    3. Rig up a fuel line & filter
    4. Add fork oil & arrive at correct spring spacers
    5. Install exhaust system (this means my caster equipped wood center stand will no longer work)
    6. Add engine oil & prime lubrication system
    7. Cross fingers & hope it cranks

However, my 2 sons & I will ride to the Muddy Creek National MX in Blountsville, TN on 6/24 & this will slow progress somewhat..........a matter of priorities.

    Blake,

You wish that you had never sold it & I wish you had sold it to me.

    However......you are forgiven.

    Hey Henry,

I just saw this pop up on local CL. Baby brother to your bike. They really are sweet looking bikes.

Here's a tank I have here for someone else.

Paint was re-done on one side due to accident damage.

Painted by a friend of my Son.

    Steve,
Thanks for those photos. In addition to educating me (I did not now the GB250 existed), it solved a question on the exhaust system mounting.

On the other hand, I didn't need to start wanting another bike. It really looks good.

    Stew,
Awesome result especially considering that he only painted one side..........that shade of dark green probably required many attempts before finding the correct formula. That OEM stripe is no longer available here in the US & IMHO is the ingredient needed for a 1st. class job.

That tank in the US would bring big bucks.

I lucked out & was able to score NOS (still in the factory box with factory packing) tank, side covers & front fender. We're using the front fender that came with the bike (the CC & prep work for the CC solved what minor issues that fender had). We now have a NOS fender extra.......maybe we can recover some of our $. I met a guy @ Barber last year that wants the damaged fender & side covers.........we haven't decided what to do with them yet.

Until we get the brakes bled & bike running, I'm using the damaged tank.

This one looks to be museum quality.

    Thanks Steve,
