Thread: Fly fishing

    Fly fishing

I had posted on the old forum about this:

    http://www.sr500forum.com/forum/view...hp?f=4&t=12400

But thought it should be carried on over to the new forum too. I'm not gonna lie, I have become completely addicted to fly fishing lately. It has gotten so bad that I am tempted to sell my XR400 to fund a drift boat Anyway, here are a couple pics from my last outing up on the Green River.

    We caught a few 18-19" rainbows;

Although we couldn't keep any because on this stretch you are not allowed to keep anything under 20"!

Also, I can attest to what gcrank1 said in the old thread:

"I believe rods 'breed' when in captivity too."

I am now up to 4 rods and am already eyeing a couple others

Also while on this topic, there is a canyon near my house with a creek running down it that I was fishing 1 or 2 times a week until this happened:

    https://www.ksl.com/?sid=41181319&ni...reconstruction

    https://www.ksl.com/?sid=41227319&ni...river-sediment

I was actually on the river when the sediment all washed down. Needless to say I didn't catch any more fish that day. I haven't fished it since, I actually haven't even been up the canyon since so I don't know how the river is looking now. It might be a while before it is fishable again unfortunately.

Nice! You know I'm a FF fan... Trout tend to live in nice places ! (As long as humans don't F it up too much, eh?)

Packing a rod around on on a motorcycle isn't too easy, but there are some nice roads where you can FF!

I have really been enjoying fishing some of the smaller creeks around my area. I bought a little fiberglass 3wt rod last winter that is just about perfect for these tight little creeks.

My advice is: Don't get into bamboo (even though it's the best!)... You'll be selling off your bikes and children

The trout stream 1/4 mi. from my place is so overgrown that using the fly rod as a jigging pole would make more sense.......and in 28ish years here Ive never wet a line in it (a day nice enough to go fishing always has me doing other things; guess Im not fisherman....). Still, I think about it now and then and at this age (now that Im more calmed down) maybe should just give it a go. I kinda hate the thought that a fish can out-think me though.......

That is good advice for me. I actually had a dream last night that I was fishing a bamboo rod and it was magical. Then I woke up and had to go to work.

You may need to practice your bow and arrow casts for that stream!

ID:	2173Nice fishing Teledan. I usually go with ultralight spin gear myself, love this hike-in lake and tiny streams with lots of brush. I have found that I can combine motorcycle touring and fishing together, still working on just the right tent, gives me an excuse for some of the places I go.
