How reliable is the TW motor vs the SR?

Having never ridden one, is the ride boring and slow or does the little bike still have a fun amount of get up? I know it won't go 90mph but 0-40 is the fun part.

The cost of these bikes around here is insane around $3k. It needs a much lower price for me to indulge but the bike looks like a lot of fun to rip around town on.

Who has, or has ridden, one?

there is a forum on yahoo for the tw-200. it really is just a fun little trail bike. great for beginners. not known for daily street commuting. new price is way out there. but they hold their value pretty well.

If you are single, you will not find your significant other by riding one of these through town, but they are zippy and fun, and can take a little more abuse from a rider than the typical street bike. Id love to find a beater to just ride around my small town and upset the neighbors.

My neighbors dont appreciate my supertrapp, at 7am, and I am ok with that.

The TW200 motor is the same as the Yamaha AG200 motor (they are a direct swap bolt in, so I assume they're the same).
If you're not from Aust or NZ you might not be familiar with the AG series, but they are purpose built, low spec farm bikes.

Point being - the motor is very reliable, as reliable as the XT250's etc. All I've done to mine in ten years is change the oil some years and check the chain, and it keeps on going.

I have a 1989 TW200 --It has been bulletproof thus far. Very fun to ride. I have Bridgestone street tires and use mainly street but occasionally dirt trails. Happy at 50 mph but will go 65. Excellent mileage. Shori battery a great upgrade. Prices are all over the map for these small machines, but a very fun investment and parts are plentiful. Scotsman
