Oh yes, the new hose I get will definitely be shorter and routed properly.

Painted my seat and got it mostly mounted:

I will make another mounting point at the back of the frame hoop once I get that all welded up. Still chasing a no spark issue, I am wondering if my pulser coil has something to do with it. If that is not adjusted properly could it result in no spark? I also downloaded Rex's troubleshooting guide that I will use to check the stator. I already checked the ignition coil and it looks good.

Thank you! I am really pleased with how it is turning out. I just gotta figure out why there is no spark :x

The one thing Im thinking, are you planning on doing any rocky rides?
hit rock or a log at the right spot and hair raising moment the rear brake could
trigger on its own. sorry just being picky

Thanks, that is a good point and something that I thought about as well. I may move the MC up slightly to give it a bit more clearance, I also thought about making some sort of guard that bolts on and would protect that area a bit more.

We have belly pans on the XT, like you said you could fab a flat guard kinda like
a extension piece the width plus a bit more for good measure, I could see it sliding
over an object instead of applying the brake, might look a bit odd depending on
your idea's, hard one to call Dan. So far on your entire project that is the only thing
to give me pause, safety concern's. In my OLD brain  the times I got hung up
on a rock in a hill climb or trail it was always right in that very spot of your master
rear. :|

Cheers..

Thanks! I probably won't be doing much heavy off road on this bike, maybe an occasional dirt road, that is what I have my XR400 for :) But I still am planning on moving the MC up slightly and possibly making some sort of guard, we will see. I agree though, I don't like it hanging down there in the open.

I was never a hard core off roader and never was climbing over rocks and logs (like a trials rider) with my '76 XT, just as you say, some occasional dirt roads and exploring the next bend stuff (probably what they call now 'adventure biking'?).
I would be OK with what you have but only you can make the call.

Man this XT has turned out nice, a lot of effort, but huge rewards dude.
